Floor to Chair
This chair reimagines reclaimed wood as a deliberate design strategy rather than a compromise. Centered on salvaged old pine floorboards—a once-neglected but valuable resource—the project investigates how imperfections such as nails, knots, and irregular grain patterns can inform and inspire form and function. Through careful removal and adaptation, the chair embraces asymmetry and irregularity, transforming these inherent characteristics into elements of aesthetic and structural integrity, ultimately challenging conventional notions of perfection in furniture design.
